Did you know that we speak on average six metaphors per minute? Our language is full of references to the metaphor landscape in our unconscious;
"I hit the wall..."
"If pigs could fly..."
"Poke my eye out with a spoon..."
"Is anyone going to acknowledge the elephant in the room??"
Stories pervade our history; aboriginal dreamtime; jongleurs at court; music; movies; faire tales. Mothers and fathers around the world read or tell stories to the children each night as they go to bed. And everyday we tell our nearest and dearest, ourselves included, stories. The one that got away; who's doing what and who at work.
I love story I have been fascinated by it since I was a child, when my mother would tell us stories at bedtime. I use my own experiences in my coaching and because of that I wanted to find a way to use story and metaphor more powerfully, purposefully. In communication as well as coaching. Story/metaphor has a way of capturing people's imagination, inspiring them, transforming them.
So if you want change in your life, or you have a message you want to communicate through story, I invite you to explore the SPARK inside.
“When we love, we always strive to become better than we are. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.”
Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
